Mid-Atlantic Tornadoes
The after effects of Hurricane Ida spread on up the East Coast, causing flooding and formulating the perfect weather for tornadoes. Our planes were able to capture the damage that occurred on the ground in parts of Annapolis as well as New Jersey after these events took place.
Hurricane Ida
Collecting the damage caused by Hurricane Ida has been a massive effort by our team of experienced pilots. The vast expanse of the destruction could not be captured in just a day; it took several days to ensure a proper and appropriate collection.
Caldor Fire
The Caldor Fire is a prime example of just how quickly fires are spreading. The fire started on August 14 and has grown swiftly, burning over 106,000 acres and only 5% contained as of August 22. So far, it has destroyed more than 400 homes with over 17,500 structures at risk.
Dixie Fire
The Dixie Fire is challenging fire crews with unpredictability and its ability to create its own weather patterns. Currently only 21% contained and burning for over a month now, it has spread destruction across Plumas, Butte, Lassen and Tehama counties and consumed over 500,000 acres.
Tornado Trevose
A severe storm producing high winds, large hail, and tornadoes swept through the Mid-Atlantic region on July 29. Numerous tornadoes touched down, including an EF3 tornado along the New Jersey-Pennsylvania border and a EF2 tornado along the coastline in eastern New Jersey.
Bootleg Fire
Wildfires continue to rage across the western U.S. fueled by extreme heat and drought. More than 1.5 million acres have burned across 12 states, and nearly 80% of the nation’s firefighting resources are committed.
Germany Floods
Catastrophic flooding from record rainfall has wreaked havoc across Germany and bordering countries. Streets turned into rivers, homes washed away, and entire areas have been completely devastated with an ever increasing death toll.
Beckwourth Fire
This fire began on July 3 as a result of lightning and has burned over 105,000 acres. As of today (July 22), the fire is 95% contained. During the course of this event, over 100 structures were destroyed.
Tornado Chicago
June 20 in the late evening hour, a powerful EF-3 tornado tore across a large swatch of DuPage County. More than 100 homes were damaged from this tornado, the most significant and strongest to touch down in the Chicago metropolitan area since 2015.
Tornado Alabama
A devastating EF-3 tornado tore through large swaths of Jefferson County in Alabama. It carved a path of destruction and significant damage nearly 10 miles long, impacting homes, schools and businesses.
Hurricane Sally
September 2020 was a busy month for natural disasters and Hurricane Sally made landfall across the Gulf coast of the U.S. Scroll through the GIC’s imagery to understand the full weight of the event.
Babb Fire
Across the southeastern part of Washington in September 2020, the Babb Fire raged and destroyed over 15,000 acres. View the impact this fast moving fire had in this rural community.
Houston Explosion
It’s rare to capture the aftermath of a chemical plant explosion, but the GIC was able to capture the results of a massive industrial explosion in northwest Houston in late January 2020. View the short gallery to see the effects of the event.
Kincade Fire
The Kincade Fire burned 77,000 acres and destroyed more than 120 buildings in Sonoma County, California. View some aerial images from the GIC capture in November 2019.
Dayton Tornado
In June 2019, a tornado with winds up to 140 mph rocked the city of Dayton and surrounding communities. Imagery provided by the GIC helped first responders and insurers help those impacted by the event.
