Property Insights & Analysis on Best-in-Class Imagery

Insurers need the latest tools and industry-leading data to help fuel better property reviews and shore up their quoting, claims management, and risk analysis. It’s all about understanding the world around us and processing petabytes of data in record time. With the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), algorithms are harnessing information with greater accuracy than ever before. And the GIC’s aerial imagery and geospatial data is leading the way.

Building Footprints

Building footprints data is created and derived from the GIC’s high-resolution aerial imagery and Digital Surface Model (DSM) data. Highly detailed geometries of buildings are accurately auto-generated for reliable ground truth. Using building footprint data, property and casualty insurers can identify and verify the exact location of a policy’s address with greater confidence than using parcel and address point data.

Quickly view what a building is shaped like, its dimensions, and how much space it takes up relative to its surroundings. Building footprints data is available in 25+ countries.

Building Attributes

When evaluating built structures on a property, having the ability to quickly assess building attributes for underwriting, risk management, and claims purposes is critical. Through the use of machine learning (ML) across the GIC’s consistently accurate, high-resolution aerial imagery and geospatial data, you can view in seconds multiple attributes on millions of properties in 25+ countries.

This new data set enhances best-in-class imagery by adding extra layers of visualization, giving you details such as building footprint, roof information (condition, type, material), and a defensible space report.

Property Attributes

View automated property facts and features in seconds for properties in the U.S. and Australia. Identify any changes that raise red flags and impact property value and insurance coverage rates. Point out dead vegetation, dying trees, or roof concerns needing to be addressed by a customer. Property Attributes, when paired with high-res imagery, help you ensure your customers are adequately covered.

Getting quick access to property-level features helps better support your decision-making and modernize reviews, from one end of the policy life cycle to the other.

Damage Assessment

After major catastrophes such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires, you need information fast to determine if your policy holders were affected and to what degree. Damage Assessment is a must-have tool, helping you take your post-CAT property reviews to new heights with automatic insights for wind and fire events.

By applying ML across high-res Gray Sky imagery, GIC members can better evaluate the scope of damage to structures on the ground. It helps streamline the claims process, supports remote assessment, and improves risk analysis for future events.
